Consultation with 12 service providers across the fiveprogram areas found there was no consistent use of a standardised tool forassessing carer needs. It is a home to home feeling. Caring for someone is an important and valuable role in the community, which is often a 24-hour job that can be very demanding and isolating for the carer. The accommodation offered everything we needed, a real home away from home.
The majority of carers take on this role as a sense of love, commitment or duty. Appalling neglect of some of the 500,000 older people relying on council and private home helps leaves many of them stuck in their own homes, suffering from ‘pervasive social isolation and loneliness’. Our sitters are regularly supervised and have 24 hour support from our team. .
